The Hespeler Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) is located at 900 Beaverdale Road in the City of Cambridge. The Hespeler WWTP services the north eastern portion of Cambridge (Hespeler) and is designed for average day flows (ADF) of 9.32 MLD. The Hespeler WWTP since 2016 has gone through and extensive upgrade, which includes, but is not limited to: -the construction of a new clarifier -construction of a new headworks building including 2mm screens and grit separators -construction of a sludge thickening system -upgrade of the of existing clarifiers -construction of a new administration building. -replacement of existing blowers with turbo blowers (2 out of 3 blowers were replaced) -repairs to aeration system and installation of new diffuser caps -the addition of a membrane aerated biofilm reactor (MABR) system As part of the upgrades there was the proposal for a Peacetic Acid (PAA) disinfection, but during the detail design it became apparent that the size of the existing contact chamber was not suitable for PAA disinfection. A design change order was created, to address the issue related to the contact chamber size and other outstanding items, but the cost of the change was outside of the project scope so was set aside to implement later. The Region is also looking to switch out the existing HACH monitoring system, and address items outlined with the 2021 Condition Assessment report. This assignment is to conduct a review of the design change order, switch of the HACH monitoring system, address the condition assessment issues and then to conduct the contract administration for the design, including tendering, site inspection, and project management. |
