Description: 

The Region of Waterloo (Region) has identified the need to rehabilitate the historic West Montrose Covered Bridge that was built in 1881. A Schedule ‘C’ Environmental Assessment was undertaken and the preferred alternative includes removing the existing steel Bailey trusses and strengthening the existing wooden trusses to achieve a 10 tonne design live load capacity. The project also includes repairs to the pier and abutments, including in-water work for the placement of scour protection.


The Region issued PQ2024-15 in November 2024 for the pre-qualification of General Contractors and Timber Subcontractors for this project.


The Region is reopening the pre-qualification opportunity for strictly the role of timber subcontractor to solicit additional interest from potential timber subcontractors beyond the submissions received in the initial round.
Timber Subcontractors are invited to submit pre-qualification information for the rehabilitation of the West Montrose Covered Bridge. Tenders will only be accepted by pre-qualified General Contractors. Pre-qualified General Contractors must use the services of one of the pre-qualified Timber Subcontractors on this project.
