Description: 

The general scope of work included in this assignment (Contract 5B) includes:

  • Replacement of the existing traveling bridge mechanisms in each of the four clarifiers with twelve (3 per tank) Fujiwara Clarifier mechanisms pre-selected under P2020-06 Request for Supply of Kitchener WWTP Primary Clarifier Mechanism Equipment. The pre-selected equipment will be novated to the General Contractor.
  • Replacement of piping, valves and pumps in the primary sludge gallery;
  • Architectural and structural improvements to the primary sludge pumping gallery;
  • Construction of a new flood-proof electrical room including a concrete vault structure supported on helical piers and grade beams;
  • Electrical upgrades including new MCCs in a new electrical room which will be powered from the existing Plant 2 blower building 600V outdoor substation, and allow for removal of Plant 1 switchgear after all existing loads are swung over to the new MCCs; and
  • Building mechanical design improvements for the primary sludge pumping gallery to comply with NFPA 820.
