The project is located at the Region of Waterloo International Airport in Breslau, Ontario, and consists of both

airside and groundside components.

The airside work generally involves the rehabilitation of select existing pavements, including Taxiway Alpha

between Apron II and Runway 14-32, Taxiway Alpha between Taxiway Foxtrot and Threshold 26, Taxiway

Charlie between Apron II and Threshold 08, a portion of Apron II and a portion of Apron III. The airside work

also includes construction of new airfield pavements in the current grass area between Taxiway Bravo and

Runway 14-32. Refer to the Contract Drawings for full details of the construction scope and rehabilitation

methods.

The groundside works involves the rehabilitation and reconfiguration of the Airport Entrance Loop Road and

Parking Lots P1 and P2 and the construction of a new groundside parking lot at the Flight line Hangar

Building. Work includes asphalt milling and paving, construction of new concrete curbs and sidewalks, new

groundside drainage and new signage. The terminal early works includes all preparatory work required for

the installation on 2 new relocatable modular structures. Work includes new watermain and sanitary services

for the new relocatable structures and the existing terminal building, new underground power and

communication ductwork and cabling, relocation of existing underground gas service, new transformers and

generator, architectural / renovation work within the existing building (both removal of a portion of existing

terminal and construction of new work), and communication / IT work within the existing terminal building and

new service for new relocatable structures.

The Contractor is expected to provide sufficient manpower and equipment and schedule the work such that

construction is completed as outlined in the specifications and on the Contract Drawings. Attention is drawn to

the Construction Sequencing requirements and the associated Plan of Construction Operations (PCO) which

outline the sequence of the work and associated safety and security requirements, temporary

equipment/markings, construction restrictions and airport operational impacts associated with the project. The

PCO also illustrates temporary equipment such as barricades/marking/lighting/fencing required to facilitate the

work and sets out general procedures regarding construction at the Airport.

The Contractor will be required to consult with and obtain permits as required with the Region of Waterloo

and the MTO as required for the use of work local roadways for truck traffic/construction access.
